6 Things I Do Not Love

i just cannot get over some of the things other people do on a daily basis.  it makes me wonder how they function in life without getting trampled by an elephant at the zoo. (because in my mind, these stupid people always climb into animal cages at the zoo.) so, my list of things/people i do not love.  tell me i'm not alone in this!!  anything you would add?

the process of getting refunds.  you sure as heck had no trouble getting that money out of my account in 2.7 seconds, so why does it take 3 weeks after i've returned an item to get my refund?  (except target, you rock target.)

paying cover at bars.  why?  when there's no band, no super awesome drink deals, nothing.  just because you think you're a new cool clubby place?  well no, i'm not doing it.  even if it's only $5, that's an entire drink, or if it's at houndstooth, an entire pitcher.

answering the phone.  seriously, just text me.  and don't leave voicemails either.

carpet.  i hate carpet.  i want hardwood floors and tile everywhere.  carpet is gross and i cannot wait to be rid of it and it also needs to learn how to clean itself.

people who don't plan and who don't follow instructions.  i'm a planner, i love planning.  so i don't mind when someone says "oh i don't care, you just take care of it and tell me what to do."  well that's all well and good, but then do what i tell you to.  just because i can plan and i'm not lazy, i'm not doing your job and my job.  if i wanted to do that, i wouldn't have included you in the first place.

the greenpeace people.  i'm sure what you're doing is all well and good, but no, i have no extra money to save the polar bears, especially when you stop me on the street and it's 11 degrees and freezing rain.  tell the polar bears to move to chicago, they'll be just fine.

  1. seriously, can I love this anymore? first, cover at bars- seriously agree, i REFUSE to pay to get into a bar where i'll have to spend even more money to drink. answering the phone-yes, i ignore all my calls except my boss and my parents, swear. basically everything else, yes too.

  2. the minute my children grow up (the ones i don't have) I will get rid of the carpet ..but for now it's simply so when I have kids they don't crack their heads... it grosses me out!

  3. You forgot about the morons who go to stores and check out in the 20 items or less isle with 54 items! ;)

  4. Hahaha this is too good. I've come to the conclusion that posts complaining about annoyances are my all time favorites.

I refuse to pay covers. I mean I have tits. Small ones but still.

  5. This week is TOO LONG.

I sort of get mad when my phone rings. Text me! Email me! Facebook message me! We don't need to talk.

I love snarky posts. I specialize in them. It's been a long time since I did a Things I Don't Get post. I think I'm up to volume five or six.

  11. I am so with you on the answering the phone. I HATE talking on the phone. And I never get voicemails. I hate doing that too!

And yes to the non-planners! Building on that, I hate when people are LATE because they didn't plan. It drives me crazy!

  12. I love Target's return policy too, so simple. Kohl's is pretty good too, as is DSW. I may have an extremely bad habit of buying things, then feeling guilty and returning them, so I am a bit of an expert on return policies...

And I think anyone our age things voicemails are evil. If I don't pick up, text me! If I can't answer and you leave me a voicemail, I am likely to text you anyways to figure out what you wanted. Save me the effort!

  14. Love this post! Sometimes it is just good to get it all out. Still cracking up at the whole elephant stomped on vision - I am going to visualize this now when in traffic because it is sprinkling and everyone in Florida thinks it's now bumper cars on the drive home.

Hope you have a fun weekend!

  16. I hate voicemails. I will call you back to find out what you had to say. All you are doing is giving me a little icon which I hate.

Love "you still have to pay child support"

  17. 'people who don't plan and who don't follow instructions' - PREACH! My #1 pet peeve for sure. I find myself constantly reminding myself that not everyone is a planner, but still - just rude.

  18. i love phone calls but HATE when people leave voicemails. but yet i can never just delete them because i worry they may contain something important so i have to listen to them first.

  19. I never even check my voicemails, I'm pretty sure they eventually delete themselves. Or something. I feel you on the client issue.... I deal with similar things. My favorite is the parents that drop their kids off at my office expecting them to be "fixed" when they pick them up. Yeah, if things worked like that we certainly wouldn't need mental health care, now would we? The child support thing amazes me...people are whack.
