Awesome Things About Thanksgiving

well it's not the hugest holiday in my house, but i still enjoy thanksgiving.  my parents and i are going to a restaurant (with my friend, ida.)  yes, a restaurant.  no one wants to cook, no one wants to do dishes so every year we just go out to eat!  usually to an indian place over on devon avenue (the little india of chicago) because no one over there cares about thanksgiving.  but thanksgiving is all about tradition, right?  well, this is our tradition.  going out to eat.  particularly, this year, we'll be sitting at a 'bar table' at 5:30 p.m., so my dad and i can watch football.  also, i've already called not being the designated driver, so it's shaping up to be a wonderful thanksgiving for me.

i hope you too have a wonderful day with your family or friends or pets, or whomever you choose to spend your holiday with.  with no mishaps and no injuries, because holidays, especially thanksgiving, are the biggest days for emergency rooms.  (and if you're in retail and your boss made you work, i'm sorry, and if you want me to start an anti-shopping on thursday petition at your store, i will!)

have you seen why thanksgiving is one of the best days of the year?  you should!  i really like #4.  i'm definitely going to be working on that one.  and if nothing else gets you excited, at least you can stuff your face with leftovers when your family isn't around on friday, right?

really, it's the little things.  enjoy your holiday!

  3. Happy Thanksgiving! I'm glad to hear you're going to an Indian restaurant, because at least the servers probably aren't worried about being home for Thanksgiving instead. It sucks for all these people who get stuck working long shifts on a family day.

  8. Love your tradition! I've been cooking for days... but since I like that sort of thing... and since I can drink as I cook... my Thanksgiving is shaping up to be pretty fine. Pretty sure there'll be some ass wiping... but as long there's no one falling or dying... it's all good...

  9. Traditions are wonderful, whatever they are. I think the biggest thing about Thanksgiving for me is finding time to relax and just connect with whomever I'm celebrating with. Most years it's me and my immediate family, last year it was me and my roommate and we cooked a duck because we got on to the turkey train too late, and this year it was with my husband's entire extended family. All of them were special, and all of them a little different.

Your T-day traditions sound awesome... I would love a day like that.. Maybe one day I will be able to start that kind of tradition with my own family! :)
