10 Best // Ways To Avoid People

i think the highlight of my month might be the one weekend where i stay in and do nothing.  i'm okay with admitting that, because i know i'm not alone.  it's relaxing and rejuvenating to stay in and watch tv while you tackle your laundry or catch up on blogging.  here's some more ways you can stay in and avoid people this weekend:

blogging: or meet a blogger really - mary is getting married in less than 100 days so go tell her congrats!  and see which planner she got for 2014.  if you read my blog, i know you're just like me and dying to see what everyone's planners are for this year.   no?  just me?

shopping: i've been etsy obsessed lately.  i mean, i think i am always but recently i've found myself turning to etsy for just about anything.  gotta love the ability to shop in your pjs from home.  i really want earrings from here.  (but ooo what color?)  i'm also looking for a little jewelry dish but i haven't found one i love.  something that fits the ring and necklace from john that i wear daily, so i can keep it on my nightstand.  any ideas?

netflix: i'm binge watching parenthood right now.  i put this one off, and i don't know why.  i thought i wasn't going to like it but i really do.  also, please watch the worst movie of all time, the haunting.  pretty please.  do it.  it'll make you think less of liam neeson, but he needs to be knocked down a few pegs anyway.

drinking game: margaret introduced me to the house hunters drinking game.  i know what i'm doing during the inevitable marathon that will be on tv!  (it's not drinking alone, hawkeye is there.)

learning: learn your wine pairings!  and possibly taste test all of them... learn what wines to pair with which girl scout cookies and which wines to pair with the usual tailgating foods.  perfect to get ready for the super bowl!  for, this information is way more important than which wine goes with steak and which with seafood.

cooking: if you're on the healthy new years kick (like so many of us are) vanessa has been posting some great healthy recipes lately.  use her ideas to get inspired for dinners for the week ahead, and prevent getting blindsided into order pizza.  again.

reading: i'm nothing if not honest.  it's a great read - what will you be honest about after you read it?

cleaning: wash your makeup brushes.  no, seriously, if you have time for nothing else on this list after contemplating your busy tv lineup, at the very least, wash your makeup brushes.  you'll be amazed at the grossness that comes out - and at how well the brushes perform again after you clean them!

and if all that fails and you're bored on sunday, go get a tattoo.  just not one of these.

happy weekend!

  1. I agree with all of these. And is it totally weird that I've already planned to wash my makeup brushes on Saturday???

  3. Yay for Parenthood, such a great show!! I will have to check out the Haunting tho haha and ahhh online shopping when I'm sick or bored will be the death of me!

  4. I am binge watching Parenthood right now too. Love that show, but I find myself tearing up at least once during every episode. I don't get it. I'm excited to get home and spend the weekend doing all of these things.

  5. Stop. A House Hunters drinking game?! Sign me up. I'm telling Cory right now. And by "telling" I'm really doing my best to yell with my non-existent voice as he lays in the other room watching HH and I lay in our room. Ah, being sick is a gem.

  6. I'd rather be doing ANY of those instead of heading to NYC. Working in the freezing cold sucks compared to binge netflix, pjs, and online shopping.

  7. I have an etsy problem. gah. and I adore house hunters.

  8. when i stumbled onto parenthood, i totally binge-watched it! then after a few seasons, it sort of lost its charm; esp when crosby settled down. he made the show and was much funnier when he was a crazy manwhore.

  9. My favorite weekends are the weekends where I have ZERO plans. Also, I like avoiding people as well. :) I do 95% of my shopping online just so I don't have to go to the store. I'm Netflix obsessed. I'm a blogger (duh). I could go on and on. :)

  10. How is Parenthood? I've heard good things about it but I don't know anyone who actually watches it!! I've got about 2.5 seasons left on Dexter and I need a new binge watch lined up!!

    1. I can't believe you don't know anyone who watches it! I feel like I was late to the party because so many people love it. I really like it. Sometimes it can get very sad/angsty so I eye roll at the dramatics, but I still really like it and keep watching!

  11. I am planning to do exactly that this weekend and I can't wait!! I love Liam Neeson so maybe I should watch it so I can stop claiming how he is the bestest ever!

  12. Hahah! Omg I love this! Too, too funny!

  13. I am overwhelmed with all the things I like about this post. I had to go off immediately to look at the new planner of Mary's and then come back (but I'm sure you knew I would be off checking it out immediately).

I watched Parenthood then dropped it. I should pick it up again. Sometimes the angst kills me but I like everyone on the show a lot.

  14. I love etsy! My best friend has a shop on there that I constantly visit! I have watched Parenthood up til this season. I just don't have time anymore :( I love the idea of what wines to pair with girl scout cookies!
Thanks for the plug too! :)
    Have a great weekend!

  15. This post reeks of awesomeness. Those are my best weekends, and I haven't had one in awhile! Parenthood is amazing. My next Netflix binge will probably be Breaking Bad. Still can't believe I never got into it. And now, I REALLY REALLY want another tattoo...

  16. Looove Parenthood! We are binge watching Breaking Bad right now and we seriously can't stop watching. It's actually killing my social life because all we end up doing when we have free time is watching a couple episodes haha! Happy Friday :)

  17. I love Etsy, I can spend hours browsing through all the awesome things. I thought to myself yesterday whoever invented Etsy is genius and most likely rich.

  29. I love avoiding people. It's probably one of my top 3 favorite things to do. I'm alllll about Netflix. I could binge watch entire seasons in 24 hrs.

  30. i used to watch Parenthood and gave it up when I moved to Europe sadly, maybe I can get back into it when I'm done with my Parks and Rec binge.

  31. Weekends are supposed to avoid people for me! I prefer staying at home. I could virtually window shop on Etsy and make myself some noodles!.

  32. Oh my gosh, those tattoos are truly terrible!! I'm considering getting one, but I've been researching designs and artists for FOREVER to make sure not only do I adore my design, but that I also get one from someone who actually knows what they crap they're doing! I adore this flower tattoo (keikolynn.com/2014/01/my-tattoos-so-far), but also love what she has to say about waiting forever to get the specific artist she wanted to do it.

  33. Yes! I totally spent all weekend at home due to this crap-tastic weather we're having on Guam right now. (Wtf mother nature?) Wish I had read about this House Hunters drinking game sooner because I would have been drunk all weekend. Lol.

  34. I love Parenthood. And my husband just ordered an iPhone case off of Etsy because it's the only place he could find one with the parts of a pig labelled. Glad there's another nerd out there who thinks that makes an awesome case, I guess...

  35. We just had one of those weekend where we live in our pj's and find stuff to do around the house....they're my favourite kind!

  37. I should be cleaning or learning but I'm Netflixxing and reading!

  38. I just started Parenthood on Netflix, too. Love it!

  39. GIRL SCOUT COOKIES. Ugh. Need, immediately.

I already do most of these things because I excel at avoiding people and the public in general. Except for that drinking game which is probably the best idea anyone has ever had.

Guess what we are doing this weekend? It involves an animal and a word that rhymes with "set." Pray for us.
