All Time Favorite Movie Characters

3.24.2014
you have no idea how hard it was to narrow down to 5.  there are so many fantastic movie characters out there, i could hardly choose.  i did decide to go with all guys this time, since my tv characters ended up being all women.

you should be 0% surprised by this one - lucas from empire records.  he gave me my blog name after all.  why is he my favorite?

robert downey jr.  i could pick a character but have you ever noticed that rdj plays rdj in whatever movie he's in?  it's true.  from iron man to sherlock holmes to zodiac, he just bends every character to be exactly like what i assume he is in real life.  and i love him for it.  but if i had to pick just one rdj favorite, it's tony stark.

captain jack sparrow.

i feel your pain, captain jack.

carter from rush hour. (who only very slightly beat out mr. chow.) but rush hour just never stops being funny.  even if it is from 1998 and i've watched it approximately 172 times since then.

and finally, the one that's probably on mine and my best friend meredith's list and no one else's - proto zoa from zenon.  after all this time?  a disney channel original movie?  yes.  i'm a huge brink fan, but zenon was a close second back in the day.  and all because of protozoa.

you're welcome for the "zoom zoom zoom you make my heart go boom boom" that is now in your head.  ah the good old disney days.  so yes, my list is entirely comedic relief characters.  who ranks in your top 5 movie characters?

  1. I'm pretty sure you and I could go to any movie together and have the same opinions. This list is gold.

  3. "50 millions dollars?! Who you think you got? Chelsea Clinton? It is Chelsea or Kelsey?" Is an oft quoted line around our house as well as a plethora of others

    1. I loved almost all of them, but Brink and Zenon definitely topped the list. I wish they still made such good movies! There was like a new one every month for awhile.

  9. Prota Zoa Zetus Lepetus! Haha oh man!

  10. I am not a movie watcher so the only things you mention that I have even seen are the first Pirates movie, Brink, and Zenon. And I have the worst memory ever so I don't retain movies unless I have seen them at least eight times. Based on that logic, the only movie character I can say I would have on my list is Ron Burgundy. And I haven't even seen Anchorman 2. The shame!

  16. Thank you so much for reminding me that Proto Zoa happened! I loved that movie so much!

And obviously Captain Jack Sparrow is amazing.

  17. Damn this is hard. I love Johnny Depp. His family and mine are super close, as in one of them his aunt or cousin I can't remember the relation, is my sisters God mother. Love RDJ. I think its awesome how his career has made a come back. I'd have to also choose Westley from the Princess Bride. I mean that should be a given considering I named my sweetie after him. Thor, but really just because he's hot not because of any other reason. Jake Perry (Josh Lucas) from Sweet Home Alabama, Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) in the Crow

  18. AHH!! Stuck in my head but definitely not a negative thing! Love all of these. Definitely have to choose Jack Sparrow as my fave out of these but Proto Zoa came close :)

  19. I like to think that Johnny Depp is Jack Sparrow in real life. If I ever met him and he wasn't like that I think I'd be disappointed.

  20. Love RDJ and Jack Sparrow!!! Sometimes I am watching a movie or show and I think to myself, why can't I hang out with this character in real life?! We would be best friends!!

  21. LUCASSSSSSSSS. Lolol. Oh god I love Gina. Such a bitch but she was good at it. Paul Walker as Brian o'connor on any fast and furious movie ever. And Leo as Jack from Titanic and Gatsby. And RDJ. Yesssss.

  22. ZENON!! YESS!!

And I so agree- I really hope that Robert Downey Jr. is exactly like that in real life. I love him.

  24. All the Zenon movies were my absolute faves when I was younger!

  25. PROTO ZOA! Definitely just made me google his hit "Supernova Girl" and listen to it.... 5 times.

  26. All right, I might have to steal this post idea. It's perfect! I was a huge Zenon fan and that definitely transferred into my love of Days of Our Lives because Kirsten Storms was on it. I remember wishing Proto Zoa was a real band, hahaha.

  27. Anything Bradley Cooper, because... well, Bradley Cooper. :)

  28. I love that proto zoa is on the list. I definitely agree with what you said about RDJ, and Mr. Stark would for sure be on my list too. and Mike Wazowski, he's my favorite disney-pixar character.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ugh, Tony Stark gives me all the lady boners.

    LUCAS. The best.

I'm going to have to go with Tyler Durden. Okay so I went with the first that came to mind, but that's not awful, right?!?

  30. Oh my goodness! I'd almost forgotten about Proto Zoa. God, now I want to watch Zenon. Such a good one. I used to pretend I was living on a spaceship after seeing that movie. Oh to be a kid again...

Good picks with RDJ (he really does just play a version of himself repeatedly, but that's fine), Jack Sparrow, and Lucas from Empire Records. Empire Records is one of the best movies ever, and should really get more credit than it does.

  31. Absolutely 100% on Jack Sparrow. Johnny Depp is my one "freebie" that I'm allowed to cheat with, so I'll always pick him over everyone! Hahaah. But I do loveeee RDJ and Tony Stark hands down would be my favorite character of his!

    ReplyDelete
  32. YES Zenon!!!! I definitely wanted to be BFFs with Zenon and live on her space station. Life would have been perfect!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love RDJ. Tony Stark is definitely my favorite character of his, but I love all of his movies that I've seen.

    ReplyDelete
  34. OMG Zenon! Loved that movie and just saw it a few weeks ago on the disney channel (yes I still tune in from time to time)!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Chris Tucker from Rush Hour is a great one!!!

I totally agree with you on RDJ. He's a little bit of a prick in every role which is how I imagine him to be in real life. An endearing prick!

  36. Captain Jack Sparrow will always be #1 fictional character for me. Love him. Maybe I'll write a post along this theme someday...

  37. I love Empire Records and can quote that entire movie. My Senior quote for the high school yearbook was, "I do not regret the things I've done, but those I did not do." Profound.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Omg Protozoa! That's it, I'm now on a hunt to find and watch Zenon again immediately! And Jack Sparrow....always!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I know, me too! I bet it's on Ebay, most disney movies are. The songs are all on youtube though ;)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Proto Zoa is pretty much my hero in life. Is it sad I'm 28 and still know most of the lyrics to his song? I'm not ashamed.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh yes! Zenon the Girl of the 21st Century is priceless! Protozoa is so hot! :)
