Come Back, Please

did you hear?  surge is coming back.  the 90s sugar and caffeine bomb drink that i blame 100% for the bike accident leading to the hole in my chin and subsequent stitches and scar.  i'm not sorry.  i'll probably get another surge this time around.  man, we had some good stuff in the 90s.

so if it's suddenly possible to bring back this accident waiting to happen, can i offer my input on other consumable items from my childhood that need to make a return?  my by-no-means-inclusive list:

dunkaroos.  don't think i haven't considered importing these from canada.

wonderballs.

koala yummies.

fruit string things.

french toast crunch cereal.

lifesavers holes.

squeezits.

fruitopia.

fruit stripe gum.

taco bell lunchables.

butterfinger bbs.

berry kix.

now, who do i talk to about this?

  4. those Kix doe. I need them in my life!

  5. They still make those koala thingies... I've got them at Target before in the $1 section!!

  6. Koala Yummies! Those things were the best! It would be so fun to see more things from the 90s brought back!

  7. The Koalas you can get in Epcot! When I am there next time I will have to grab you some. Chocolate or Strawberry?

  8. I have managed to get squeeze it's and dunkaroos at none other than Walmart. Probably because it's walmart.

  9. Oh my god, bring back Dunkaroos!!! And Fruitopia!!! But it has to be Fruitopia in the cool glass bottles!

  10. i had no idea what surge is but now i know :)

  11. Fruitopia... haha that was my lunch. I miss rice krispie treats cereal..

  12. Ok but for real...why did these things disappear?! The number of times I think about dunkaroos & string things is unreasonable...like close to weekly. Also, as much as I'd love to be nostalgic & buy some surge...it's $30!! I remember a few years after it was no longer being sold our HS gym teacher still had some & was giving it away to us to finally get rid of it...

  13. Apparently it's $50 shipping on Amazon to get Surge...I want some just to see if my childhood self was insane for being so obsessed with it...I hope it hits stores for a limited time at least...

And yes to dunkaroos and fruitopia

  14. Butterfinger BBs are the only way I like Butterfinger. I really miss those.

  15. I want Dunkaroos so bad!! I loved them things. I used to eat them all the time as a kid!

  16. Koala yummies and dunkaroos made up one of my main food groups as a child. I've accepted the chocolate filled pandas from Target dollar section as a far distant place holder until the real deal can make a comeback🙏

  17. I LOVE dunkeroos! They were my favorite snack ever! Probably why my teeth are so bad now but, ya know... worth it? ummm I'm going with yes!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Fruit string things?! Omg yes!! I definitely need to get my hands on some dunkaroos.

    ReplyDelete
  19. LOL, they still have Berry Berry Kix...I ate them for breakfast today, actually! The only thing is that all of the Kix are a light purple/pink color. It's not like the old-school kind that have regular Kix mixed with those fun shaped berries!
I could go for some Dunkaroos about now! :)

  20. I support this 100%. especially dunkaroos.

  21. Dunkaroos all the way! I keep seeing what looks like this Koola Yummies knock off in the target dollar section but they only have the weird flavors the chocolate is always gone so I haven't been able to test them out for authenticity.

  22. Dunkaroos made it okay to eat icing - definitely something that needs to come back (though the Nutella to Go is a nice stand in). Choosing a Fruitopia flavor and holding up the lunch line was a favorite past time in high school, even though they all kind of tasted the same after a few sips.

  23. The announcement about Surge made me a little giddy!!! Now can we get some the clear Pepsi back too please

  24. I had no idea you can't get Fruitopia or Dunkaroos in the sates! It's still readily available here in Canada…I will happily trade you Fruitopia for Vanilla Coke! Fruit String Things look really similar to what we call Fruit Roll Ups that they totally still sell here too.

  25. I totally remember Fruitopia & loved those berry berry kix! I also loved the rice crispy treat cereal- so good!

  28. I'm from Canada and I'm pretty sure Fruitopia is pretty easy to come by at the grocery store. And I'm 100% sure that you can get it from a fountain at McDonalds :)

  29. Can you talk to someone about Clearly Canadian? I'd like to bring that back.

  30. SURRRGGGEEE!!! I will totally consume one if it really does come back!

Also, Dunkaroos, Frutopia, and Oreo O's cereal please! Ohhh and sour twizzlers were so good! And fudgees.

And I am with Steph, Clearny Canadian too!!!!

  31. Fruitopia just brought back all the childhood memories. Oh sweet lord. Oreo O's need to come back too, for sure. And I actually think the fruit stripe gum is still a thing!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes to the Dunkaroos. I thought I saw the French Toast crunch at Wal-Mart?! Those were so good.

    ReplyDelete
  33. um, you're missing Jolt. remember that drink? double the caffeine and double the sugar?

    1. Oh you missed out! Or not, because you don't have to wistfully remember them.

  35. Clearly Canadian, Fruit Stripe gum (coudl you eat the wrapper or did I make that up?) and Clear Pepsi! Ahh memories.

  36. Oh this is right up my alley. I loved dunkaroos so much. I also loved fruit by the foot.

  37. There used to be these Starburst things, long like Twizzlers, but in Starburst flavors. They were so good!

  38. my family was all about Surge.. Dunkaroos, too.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I used to love Berry Kix!! I definitely asked my Canadian friend to send me some dunkaroos!

  40. Fruitopia all the way! It was sooooo good!

  41. Fruitopia was one of my favorite things as a kid. One time a few years back, my friends and I were at a concert in another state. After the show, we went to a McDonalds and they actually had Fruitopia Strawberry Passion Awareness at the fountain. It's the only time I've seen it in probably 12 years.

I'm excited about Surge. I blame Surge for the reason I didn't sleep at all one July 4th. One surge and two Mountain Dews for a 10 year old? Probably not the best idea..

    ReplyDelete
  42. I never had Koala Yummies, but still remember the jingle! I second SMD's suggestion of bringing back Clearly Canadian.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I love anything butterfingers mmm - Damnit now I want one - Great list! Everything was better in the 90's in my book :P Have a great one Stephanie! -Iva
