I Need A Vacation and Other Confessions

1.28.2015
i really wasn't planning on posting this week, as i'm totally swamped at work.  but, it's confession day and i felt like that was a good time to leave you with all the tidbits i've been thinking about, without figuring out how to turn each one into a post of it's own.

so, i confess ...
... when you get super defensive about something, i figure it's because whatever someone said about you has a kernel of truth and you don't want to admit it/it's something you don't like that about yourself.  otherwise, why ya so mad?  i don't get mad when someone calls me a bitch, or spoiled, or mean, or bossy, etc etc because all those things are true.  whatever.

... i'm already planning vegas.  83 days away.  we settled on caesars palace to stay at, by the way.  april 22nd.  i know people feel weird about posting that online in case someone wants to rob your house but i have a roommate and my landlord works from home so, good luck.  also, check my complete home inventory.  i have nothing worth stealing.

... i think taylor swift songs are really annoying, and i think it's just me.  i liked her first album, but after that - i hate everything.  a lot of people do but also say they find 'shake it off' catchy.  i just don't.  that song grates on my ears and it might actually be my 2nd most hated, after 'umbrella' because seriously, rhianna, um-ba-rella is not a word.

... i already bought a christmas present for my best friend's kid who isn't going to be born until april.  but it was a sparkly blue adjustable christmas tutu which sounds ridiculous to sane people, i agree, but if you knew my friend, you'd know it's perfect.  it was on super sale on etsy.

... i updated my about page.  i like it.  for now; it can always be improved.

... i have a lot of post ideas lately, but no time to write.  it's good and bad - good when work is busy, good that it keeps my mind off the fact that john hasn't been home in 3 weeks (wah), bad that i'm tired, and bad that it's when this sinus headache stuff just won't quit.  i need a vacation, so vegas can't come soon enough.

... i'm pretty sure the last time i went anywhere was haley's wedding.  and yes, that post is almost 2 years old.  and i only went for the day, because we were too busy with being team spice girls the day before.  a classic must read post, if you haven't been around since 2 years ago.  as is this one.  enjoy.  i'll be back next week.

  1. I certainly feel that people get really defensive when they know what you are saying is true but in denial about it!!! Truth hurts bro! Also, I have been meaning to get around to updating my about me page and some other minor things but lazy wins out every time.

  4. No, um-ba-rella is certainly NOT a word. And I confess I did enjoy "Shake it Off" the first dozen times I heard it but now I'm on Team Can't Change the Station Fast Enough.

  5. yay Vegas! I agree about when people get defensive.. so true.
and seriously Umbrella was definitely the most annoying song ever. I do love T Swizzle and I loved Shake It Off, but I am definitely over it now.

  7. You're the first blogger that I read who has said that they don't care for Taylor Swift and I am so happy someone finally said it! I don't understand the hype surrounding her...

  8. agreed! when people say that i'm a bitch/bossy/no filter/foul-mouthed biatch, i laugh because it's totally true.

  9. Haha I so feel ya on the defensive confession. I too feel when someone calls me a bitchy, feminist, blunt, etc. I too have been so slammed but today's linkup was an easy way for me to put something out.

  10. I love how you tell it like it is. You're one of my favorite blogs because you are just who you are (which is awesome!) and don't say things just because someone wants to hear it, etc. I hate when I scroll through blogs and just feel like everyone's writing the same things, the trendy things, etc. Be yourself, yO! :)

  11. I never get on the defensive about being called a bitch. I totally own it. Woohoo I was around two years ago, and remember the post.

  12. To be honest, I get defensive when someone says something about me which ISN'T true. I hate being falsely accused of anything and tend to accidentally get defensive to the point where it always bites me in the ass because I sound more guilty. Ha.

    Good post, though!x

  15. Taylor Swift is mostly annoying. She doesn't bother me as a person but her music is displeasing to the ear.

Nothing wrong with being prepared for Christmas because sales and sparkles are a perfect match.

I don't care what people say about me. I'm too old for that shit. Also because it's probably true.

  16. Agree 100% with your first bullet - I take it as a compliment when people call me a bitch. I already know I am one - a BIG one and I am happy about it. If you have a problem with it: go away and problem solved: for me. And that's all that matters: me. Lol. Vegas is going to be awesome <3 Also, yes Taylor Swift is annoying because she sings about the same shiet erry'damn-day. Chick needs to grow up! Have a great work week and take it easy Stephanie! -Iva

  18. Agreed on the defensiveness/truth.

I'll check out the about me page.

Sorry it's been a busy week! Almost done. But happy it's kept your mind off of other things. I hope HRH has gotten a lot of facetime in with John!

  20. I really loved T Swift's first album and have actually grown to love the new one. It's more her but Umbrella is my most hated song EVER!

  21. Never been into her. I always thought it was just me too! And Vegas is one of the few places I have never been. Hope to change that soon!

  22. I look forward to hearing all about Vegas (that's my confession)

  23. Your first confession... Yup, totally agree. Vegas?! Lucky!

(I am one of those geeks that totally sings along to "Shake It Off".)

  24. I feel the same way about TSwift. I dont even like her nickname to tell the truth. She doesn't sing and we dont need more relationship drama in this world.

  25. Amen to number one. Whenever I get defensive its because its not the truth. I look forward to reading about your vacay!

  26. ARGH people being overly-defensive is obnoxious. People need to stop deny the truth and lying to themselves and get over their shit. Ain't nobody got time for that.

And umbrella, holy crap that song is right there with Rude, which I LOATHE with my entire being. I do kinda love how the popularity DIED after the rebuttal video with the Dad singing came out.

  27. When I read that you dislike Taylor Swift you instantly became an instant fave blogger. It seems these days Taylor has amassed the Beyonce like level where you cannot say anything bad with her and I have a lot of issues with her, her music, and her image. It's nice to know I'm not completely alone in that fact.

  28. Hope you feel better soon! We just got back from Vegas (1st time visiting) and stayed at the Venetian...it was nice. When you see the perfect gift, you have to snap that up!!

  29. Your new about page is great! I always love your confessions posts. I hope things get easier for you soon!

  30. I was so in love with Taylor's first album... when she was country, but I kind of agree with you now, especialllllly with Shake it Off. I don't hate all her new stuff, but that song specifically annoys me.
