Three on Thursday

Welcome back to Three on Thursday, my weekly even though I sometimes skip weeks list of things I'm loving at the moment that I think you should do, try, or buy.  If you're interested in past weeks, you can find those here.

1. BeanitosGiving up the traditional salty, crunchy snack foods is definitely one of the hardest parts of eating healthy for me.  Beanitos have been a fabulous alternative.  Not that they're the healthiest option, they're not raw vegetables, but they're full of protein and fiber and infinitely healthier than regular chips.  I haven't tried all the kinds, but the original black bean and pinto bean options have been long time staples now.  I always see them at Whole Foods, but I've started noticing them at my local grocery too.  There's a store locator on their site, so see if they're near you!

2. Magnesium for Sleep and Anxiety.  I don't like to take melatonin to sleep.  It knocks me out for sure but I never feel rested - I feel like I get weird dreams and it's not a state of actual restful sleep it's just 'passed out' and I wake up groggy and still tired.  So I switched over to magnesium instead.  It's a natural muscle relaxer and it's what's in milk that'll make you feel sleepy too (but I don't drink milk so that's not an option.)  I don't fall asleep easily because my brain won't turn off, especially when John is at the firehouse, and I find that these supplements help me feel so much less anxiety.  You'll feel the relaxing effects in 10 minutes.

3. Foldable Flat Shoes.  As wedding season approaches, I'm always reminded of the trashiest thing a girl can do - be barefoot.  My mother once told me to bring flats to weddings because your heels will hurt and you need something to change into when you take them off.  'You don't want to be that girl with no shoes on.'  I have lived by that rule ever since.  I hate when I see women barefoot at weddings and other events (like the girls a couple months ago at John's 'prom', with broken glass on the floor.)  It's disgusting, dangerous, and yes, trashy.  I know I should be all 'women empowerment, don't be judgmental rah rah' but I'm not, not about this.  I judge shoe-less people at fancy events.  So get the flat shoes that fold up, stuff them in your purse, and don't be that girl.

Happy Thursday!
