Top 5 Cruelty Free Picks Under $5

This post may contain affiliate links.

Like makeup of any kind, cruelty free picks can be hit or miss.  And sometimes it can be even harder to find those great cruelty free options at an equally great price.  Since I would really love everyone to switch to cruelty free makeup, I thought it would be fun to share my favorite cheap items that are also widely available.  For this first bunch, they're also all under $5!  All the time, guys, that's not a sale price.

Although I now like to pick up items with zero waste packaging (i.e., no plastic), I have used and loved all of these products in the past and highly recommend you check them out.  Cruelty free does not have to equal expensive!

Wet n Wild Color Icon Bronzer Highlighter in Reserve Your Cabana.  It's called a bronzer but it's 100% a highlighter.  It's very similar to theBalm Mary Loumanizer or Becca's Champagne Pop but at a fraction of the price.  It's in a massive pan, it's going to last you quite a long time.  The color really lasts all day, it's not powdery looking, and it's a nice balance between illuminating and natural, without being glittery.  Everything you want from a highlighter.  I truly love it more than most high end ones I've tried.  And it's only $4.50.  Wait for a sale and get it even cheaper!  And I think it's even less than that at Walmart, like $3.95.

Wet n Wild in generally has turned into a really great affordable cruelty free brand.  I feel like I remember them being more like play makeup, crazy colors geared towards tweens.  But that's not the case any more (if it ever was, my memory could be wrong.)  Give them a chance if you haven't because they also have my favorite makeup removing wipes, nail polish, eye primer, liquid eyeliner, makeup brushes (at just 99 cents!) and more.  In the interest of including a variety of brands for you to check out, I just stuck to one item from each brand, but if I hadn't, Wet n Wild would have appeared way more often.

Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara Essence is now easy to pick up at Ulta and all their mascaras are really great.  I like this one because it's similar to the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara but it's only $4.99.  I also get a little bit of flaking with the Better Than Sex and I don't with this one.  It's very black, easy to put on, doesn't bother my sensitive eyes or contacts, just all around I'm a fan.

Essence also has a great highlighter and the best eyebrow gel, if you're a fan of that mascara wand type eyebrow formula like the Benefit Gimme Brow.  And it's only $3.  They also have good lip liners for just $2.

Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder ShadowThese come in right at $5 and I can usually find a sale or coupon at Walgreens for the brand.  They're very pigmented and blend so nicely, and they last all day on your lids without even using a primer.  The formula is fun, it's like a creamy gel consistency but dries like a regular powder shadow.  And the color options are extensive.

Milani has quite a few good products and if I bumped this up to 10 under $10, there would be a lot of picks because they have great lipsticks and eyeliners at $6 and $7.

Jordana Easyliner for Eyes.  These come in at only $3 and are so easy to use.  They twist up, so no need to sharpen.  They glide on softly and come in a ton of colors.  I get all day wear out of these and they don't bother my eyes at all, and since they're the soft formula they don't scratch like some pencils can.  Jordana eyeliners, in my Walgreens, are usually right by the beauty department checkout counter.

NYX Hi Definition Photo Concealer Wand You can pick this up at Ulta for $4.99 and Nyx often has BOGO sales on their stuff.  This concealer works perfectly on dark under eye circles.  It's a thinner formula so it doesn't crease like thicker kinds can.  It blends out easily but I do find that if I want it to last all day, I need to set it with a powder, but that's true of most concealers for me.  They also have color correcting tones, which is nice.  I prefer the wand but their concealer in a jar is just as effective and still only $5.

Have you tried anything on this list?  Do we have any of the same favorites?  I do have a few more favorite picks, so if it's something you're interested in, I could also do a top 10 under $10.  Let me know in the comments.
