Three on Thursday

Welcome back to Three on Thursday, my weekly even though I sometimes skip weeks list of things I'm loving at the moment that I think you should do, try, or buy.  If you're interested in past weeks, you can find those here.

1. Kentucky Derby Pick - Thunder Snow.  I don't like to pick the favorite no matter how often the favorite wins.  The odds just aren't there so you bet $2 and you win like 20 cents.  No thanks.  Go big or go home, right?  There's not an all out favorite yet, not like in years' past, but Classic Empire, Always Dreaming, and Irish War Cry are right up there.  So I'm going with Thunder Snow.  Right in the middle of the pack and the name speaks to me.  Who are you going with?

2. Horchata Drinks for Cinco de Mayo.  In pains me that the official drink of tomorrow is the margarita.  I don't do margaritas.  I simply can't - I hate tequila and I hate lime anything.  I'll tell you why real quick: freshman year of college, Tuesdays at Summit, it was $1 pint glasses of whatever you wanted and since they used all the liquors in their Long Island Iced Teas instead of anything pre-mixed, that was the natural 'bang for your (literal) buck' choice.  12+ later, NOT A GOOD CHOICE.  And for some reason, despite all the other alcohols in there, the tequila is the only one that stuck out in my mind and still does 13 years later.  So my aversion to tequila didn't come from margaritas but I can smell it in there anyway and I haven't touched one since.  Yes, since before I was even 21.  Don't follow my example, children.  If you have a similar distaste for margaritas or just in the mood to have something new, horchata based drinks are so much better.  Enjoy!

Come back tomorrow for a recipe for the cupcake version of this drink.  Booze filled of course, Rumchata fixes all things.  No tequila or lime in sight.  (Oh and my aversion to lime is from too many shots of SoCo and lime, remember when that was a thing?  Woof.)

3. Wet n Wild Makeup Brushes.  I mentioned them before in passing but they really do deserve a spot of their own.  They're really good makeup brushes and for a tiny fraction of what you pay for high end one.  These range from 99 cents to $3.  A steal!  Plus there's always a sale or a coupon when you buy these in the drugstore, so you could get your entire set for just a few bucks.  I use their various eye shadow and liner brushes and I like them more than the higher end ones I had before them.  They're really soft and they clean so nicely.  When I remember to clean them of course.

Happy Thursday!
