Emily Ley Simplified Planner Review and Giveaway

This post may contain affiliate links.

Emily Ley Simplified Planners just launched last week, at least for their academic year, with the brand new covers.  Some are still available on their own site and some other retailers carry all of the versions so I thought I would give you an overview in case you're interested in picking one up.  Some of you may be August to July planners, whether you're still in school or not.  Which is all this version is, the insides are still the same as their planners that run January to December, they just start with August instead.  If you're a year long planner though, those will be available in September with January 1, 2019 start dates.  Anyway, let's take a look at this one specifically - it's the weekly version with the watercolor floral cover.

The weekly version is a hard, thick cover just like the daily version, but it's book bound instead of spiral bound.  I'm totally over ring binding at the moment so I like this style, and I'm impressed with how flat it lays.  There's also a sewn in ribbon bookmark, and the color of it varies depending on which cover you choose.  On the inside of the front cover is a pocket, and it came with this sheet of stickers.

Front Pages

I really like the first few pages of this planner.  It starts with a note from the creator that's followed by some information on simplifying and setting up the planner.

Then it gets into the holidays for 2018 and 2019 and then has the full year at a glance calendar for both years.

Then you get into the really fun planning pages.  They're the 'prep work' pages where you work out what works and doesn't in your life currently, ideas you have for new routines, and then space to list out your new morning, evening, and weekly routines.  This is right up my alley and I can't wait to fill them out.

The last two pages before the planner begins are a simplicity challenge page with 15 minute challenges to handle each day for a month that will simplify your life, and then a yearly bucket list page to write out your yearly goals.

Planner Layout

Each month starts with the monthly look on two pages.  The tabs are on these month pages, and they're stepped tabs as you can see in the second photo.  The second photo also shows the bookmark ribbon.

That is followed by the week on two pages, with Saturday and Sunday sharing a spot.

On each Sunday is also Emily Ley's 4 bullet point checklist.

And then it follows up with note pages in the back.  I believe these are only in the weekly version, there are no notes pages in the daily version.

I plan on having another post, if anyone is interested, later in the summer about how I set it up and use it, like giving a look inside when it's all written in.  The 2019 calendar year versions of these planners launch on September 5, so I can do a follow-up right before that date if that would be helpful.

This link gets you $10 off your order, whether that's a planner or accessories or both.
