Three on Thursday - Top Favorites of 2018

Welcome back to Three on Thursday, a weekly list of three things I'm loving at the moment that I think you should do, try, or buy.  If you're interested in past weeks and more recommendations, you can find those here.  If you make your own Three on Thursday list, please share it in the comments so I can check it out.

I always like to end the year by picking out my top 3 favorites from all of my Three on Thursday posts from the past year.  It's actually really hard to narrow it down, because I always still use and love everything I've listed.  So it took me a very long time, but I finally decided:

Nest Thermostat.  Which I first talked about here.  I love this thing.  Everything I said in that post is still true - it's very convenient to control the temperature when I'm not even in the house.  Or, you know, from bed.  It's now been around long enough that it knows our patterns and can sense (by our phones) when we aren't in the house and adjusts the temperature accordingly, so I really don't even need to pay attention to it to know that it's running on the eco-friendly mode.  But the best part is that I now have months and months of billing proof to compare to years past to show exactly how much money it's saved us, and it has more than paid for itself by cutting our electric and gas bills at least in half.  Half!  A seriously fabulous investment, and I highly recommend getting yourself one.  Absolutely worth it.  (The new door lock almost made this list as well, but I didn't want it to be just a list of home items.)

The Ordinary Skincare.  Actually, from this post, I was also debating having the aloe vera gel on this list, but the Ordinary skincare won out.  The prices are just too incredible and the products work so well.  If you're new to things like facial oils, retinoids, or acids, this is such a good place to start.  You can describe your skin and concerns to the customer service via e-mail and they'll send you a personalized list of what to try.  Everything is between $4 and $15, so it's very affordable to try products and find what your skin responds to.  The borage seed and marula oils are so good for my rosacea, and the price on the retinoid in squalene oil can't be beat.  I'm sure you're already using something from them, but just in case you're not, The Ordinary is a top 3 this year.

Fossil Purse.  I didn't think a purse would make my top 3 of the year either, but here it is.  When I looked back over these posts, it was hard to say that I loved 3 things more than all the other things I loved, so I also took how much use I got out of it into consideration and then the Fossil purse became the clear winner.  I've used it (almost) every single day since John got it for me in February.  That's some seriously mileage on one little handbag and it still looks fantastic, let me tell you.  It's the perfect size for me, and it's also helped my back/shoulder pain because I was carry much bigger purses before, which weighed more themselves and which I then stuffed more into then I ever actually needed.  I really love this little guy.

There you have it, my top three of 2018.  Don't worry, these posts aren't going anywhere next year.  I'll have plenty more recommendations.
