Three on Thursday

Welcome back to Three on Thursday, a weekly list of three things I'm loving at the moment that I think you should do, try, or buy.  If you're interested in past weeks and more recommendations, you can find those here.  If you make your own Three on Thursday list, please share it in the comments so I can check it out.

ONE.

Reese Witherspoon's Smoked Pecans.  This is one of the recipes in Reese Witherspoon's book and the first one I tried because, duh, easy.  So simple to set up and bake, and ended up tasting fantastic.  I made them when we had a couple of people over for happy hour and literally everyone loved them and asked how I made them.  A huge hit.

TWO.

Chest Freezer.  This has turned into a necessity in this house.  We have the pull out drawer freezer and it just wasn't enough space, so John got a chest freezer off Amazon and it's been amazing.  He always has a ton of meat - there's a great meat market locally and he gets a discount, and is also often able to get the stuff for cheap when they want to sell fast (they don't freeze anything.)  We finally have enough storage for it.  That plus his frozen pizzas, which he loves.  I guess it's better than constantly ordering pizza, which gets expensive.  I like to get frozen veggies and veggie burgers on sale, so now I finally have room for them in our regular freezer.  We're both happy.

THREE.

Dollar Tree Vacuum Seal Bags.  I just got a couple of these for John.  He wanted to get an extra set of bedding for the firehouse, one that he could keep in these space bags in his truck.  If he gets sent out to an understaffed house, he usually forgets his bedding at his own firehouse, and then he's screwed.  By keeping an extra in the truck, he has it at all times.  A set of the name brand was $20 on Amazon so I figured heck let's just try the dollar store version first and see what happens.  Turns out, they work just fine!  I got two and they work perfectly, as long as you remember to go over the seal a few times with the clip that's included.  Easy peasy.  If you're in the market for something similar, try the dollar version of it first.
