Three on Thursday

Welcome back to Three on Thursday, a weekly list of three things I'm loving at the moment that I think you should do, try, or buy.  If you're interested in past weeks and more recommendations, you can find those here.  If you make your own Three on Thursday list, please share it in the comments so I can check it out.

Charcoal Water Purifying Stick.  I finally got one!  I'd been wanting one/talking about it for awhile, but I didn't want to just waste the filters we already had for our Brita pitcher.  Now that those are all used up, we went ahead and got the charcoal stick I wanted to be more zero waste about the whole water filtering thing (I've mentioned how much I loathe the taste of Chicago tap water.)  So far, it's working perfectly.  Tastes just the same as using a Brita filter, which is just charcoal inside anyway so it's the same.  And this one keeps on working, you just have to boil it once in awhile to reactivate it, which is amazing.  Absolutely no waste. Brilliant.

Book of Days Planner.  I got it to start using at home, rather than a traditional carry around planner, to track more fun things like self care and moon phases and not 'what list of e-mails to I need to send out at work today?'  And it's big, it's really heavy and well made, since there's a full page for each day.  Definitely not something portable.  I love that it's undated, so I don't waste any pages.  If I didn't end up using a daily page, I'm able to pick up where I left off.  I do sometimes use the to do list section as a real to do list, but mostly I like to sit with this planner each morning and track stuff outside of errands.  What sort of exercise could I do today, what mental/emotional stuff needs tending too, etc.  More of a journal, if you will.

Cocktail Kits.  It's a sweet little gift for someone hard to shop for.  John, for me.  He likes having lots of little things to open at Christmas, which can be really hard especially year after year.  Plus I hate clutter and anything wasteful, which adds an extra layer of challenge.  These are meant for flying, technically, as they contain everything you would need to make that particular cocktail except a mini bottle of booze.  But since you can buy those mini bottles at any liquor store, or use the kits at home with a regular size bottle, I still think it's a fun gift.  I got him the Old Fashioned and the Bourbon Gummy Bears.
