What I've Read Lately

It's that time, the second Tuesday of the month.  Time to link up and check in with what I've been reading lately.

Hell's Princess by Harold Schechter.  This is a deeply well-researched narrative on the true story of Belle Gunness, serial killer of the early 1900s who would lure men to her murder farm.  It's written like something you'd watch on the History channel, there's only a portion about the actual murders and the rest is all about the history.  So you would need to be a history buff to enjoy this type of writing, but I found it fascinating.

Emily, Gone by Bette Lee Crosby.  This was a really emotional one, doubt my mother would have gotten through it.  I dunno, if you have small kids, probably skip it, but it's really well-written and good story.

Secondborn by Amy A. Bartol.  It's basically the Hunger Games and Divergent, but since I liked both of those, I liked this too.  Not as good as Hunger Games, of course, but good enough that I'll read the second book.

Cyber Storm by Matthew Mather.  Terrible, end of the world disaster movies like Sharknado and Day After Tomorrow and San Andreas are my jam, and apparently I like the same thing in my books because that's exactly what this is.  If you like it in movies, you'll like it in this book.  If they suck the life out of your soul like they do to John, skip it.

Polar Vortex by Matthew Mather.  Same, but instead of end of the world it's a plane that goes missing in the Arctic.
