Three on Thursday

Welcome back to Three on Thursday, a weekly list of three things I'm loving at the moment that I think you should do, try, or buy.  If you're interested in past weeks and more recommendations, you can find those here.  If you make your own Three on Thursday list, please share it in the comments so I can check it out.

ONE.

St. Patrick's Day Drink - White Russian with Creme de Menthe.  In honor of St. Patrick's Day coming up, which is a big deal here in Chicago, we're doing themed recommendations today.  Starting with a drink.  So the only thing Irish-y about this is the color, but I love these.  I started ordering them last year because I really wanted a minty drink and I hate actual mint.  I only wanted creme de menthe, but I'm limited in what that can be mixed with.  Coffee liquor though, that sounded like a win.  I have since learned these are called Slippery Frogs, though no bartender actually knows that so I just ask them to do a white russian with a creme de menthe shot added.  Normally I just make them at home though.

TWO.

St. Patrick's Day Food - Guinness Roasted Corned Beef.  Steph knows all, doesn't she?  I know nothing about corned beef, so I defer to her wisdom.  I made this once for John, when she first posted it, and now I'm required to make it at this time every year, he loves it.

THREE.

St. Patrick's Day Dessert - Green Puppy Chow.  Okay, what do you call this?  Puppy chow or muddy buddies?  To pull a Shawn Spencer a la Psych, 'I've hear it both ways,' but I call it puppy chow.  It's a very simple dessert that's alway a crowd pleaser, and can be made for any holiday by adding a few ingredients in the holiday's colors.  In this case, some green food coloring, m&ms, and marshmallows.  Mmm.
